44-Year-Old Killed In Sunken Meadow State Parkway Crash On Long Island

Police have identified a man who they say was killed in a crash on the Sunken Meadow State Parkway.

A 44-year-old Amityville resident was killed in a crash on the Sunken Meadow State Parkway on the night of Tuesday, Aug. 1, police said.

The crash happened on the night of Tuesday, Aug. 1 at approximately 11:30 p.m., according to the New York State Police.

Jaron Lowndes, a 44-year-old Amityville resident, was riding his 2005 Yamaha motorcycle on the parkway, traveling southbound.

He came upon two cars stuck in the right lane – one was a broken-down Toyota Rav4, and the other was a Ford EcoSport stopped behind it.

According to police reports, Lowndes lost control and was ejected from the motorcycle.

He hit the stopped EcoSport, while his motorcycle continued on, colliding with the Rav4.

Lowndes was transported to South Shore University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No other injuries were reported.
